This Salisbury based Refresh detail focused on a Fiat 500 that needed a complete interior and exterior reset.. We have an Abarth 595 ourselves and know these little Fiats well. This one came in for its end of lease clean as it was going back to the lease company. It was white with a cream interior which shows every mark and bit of grime. The seats were part leather and part fabric and the fabric had that browned, lived-in look you get from everyday use. A quick pass did nothing, so out came the drill brush. Working in small squares, the first clean cream square stood out against the dull, browned fabric around it. That one patch told me the whole interior was going to lift far better than it looked at first glance.

This VW Polo arrived at our Salisbury detailing base in need of our Refresh service, covering both interior and exterior valeting. A neighbour recommended me to their mother for a full valet, describing the interior as “just needs mucking out”. That should have been the warning. Mucking out is something you do to a horse stable, not a Polo, and the interior proved it. Dust, mud and general buildup covered almost every surface. A windscreen sign that read Granny’s Taxi made it clear this needed to end up as a clean, comfortable place for the grandkids to sit.

We started on the exterior, thinking it would be the quickest win, but the wheels had other ideas. Acid wheel cleaner has its place in a detailers arsenal, used sparingly and with care, and on wheels this bad it was the only thing that stood a chance. Several dwell, agitate, rinse cycles later the wheels and barrels finally came up like new.

Steam, APC and interior cleaner were all needed to cut through the heavy dirt inside. It took longer than expected but the transformation was worth it, and the interior is now a clean, comfortable place for the kids to travel in.

This very classy Mercedes C Class came in with a persistent odour in the boot after a milk spillage and needed our Refresh service. Milk is rich in proteins and sugars, so once it soaks into carpet and underlay it becomes an ideal food source for bacteria. As the bacteria multiply the smell only gets stronger.

We soaked the affected area with an enzyme cleaner to break down the residue, flushed it with clean water, then extracted as much as possible. It is vital that any fabric affected by a milk spillage is dried thoroughly, so we used our warm air blower to dry the boot fabrics fully and remove any remaining moisture. Even a small amount left in the carpet can allow the smell to return.

While the car was with us we completed our Refresh service inside and out. The interior looked and smelled fresh again and the exterior finished with that clean sharp look these cars always seem to wear so well.

The odour was gone by the end of the process and the customer left very relieved.

Ford Salisbury kindly loaned us a car while ours was in for warranty work, and I’m grateful. I’ve owned two Focus STs in different shapes and loved them.
That colour, though, is one of Ford’s best right now. I wanted to see it properly, so it got the full Refresh treatment. No machine polish. It’s a loan car and dealer washes would undo the protection and all the hard work.
I’m glad I did it. The blue looks stunning, the car feels new again, and it might even save someone a job when it goes back. And for whoever buys it, at least the door and boot jambs are properly clean (they had never been touched).
