Tackling Tough Challenges: Smoke Odour Removal
This project was a real challenge and a great testament to our ability to handle specific requests—this time, eliminating a persistent smoke smell from a vehicle. Despite the owner's efforts to clean and deodorise, the odour remained, only masked by air freshener. We started by steam cleaning the entire interior, followed by a thorough deep clean using an all-purpose cleaner, and finished with detailed dressing. While we can’t show a visual before and after of the smoke odour, I’m happy to say that when the customer opened the door, they immediately noticed how fresh the car smelled.

This vehicle belongs to one of our most loyal clients, and it's their latest purchase — acquired from a private dealership. Having had several of their previous vehicles detailed by us, they immediately recognised that this one wasn’t up to the same standard.
In the bright summer sunshine, the paintwork revealed extensive swirl marks, and several areas of metal trim were heavily marred, with a chalky, limescale-like appearance.
The cabin appeared tidy at a glance but was far from clean. Dirt had built up in hard-to-reach areas, and there was a lingering smell of dog throughout. We carried out a deep interior clean, removing embedded dirt from around buttons, vents, and trim, and treated all surfaces with steam to neutralise odours — leaving the cabin fresh, hygienic and properly detailed.
We've recently refined our Revive approach — moving away from a traditional 3-in-1 polish to a more effective single-stage machine polish, followed by the application of a one-year ceramic hard coat. This updated process delivered excellent results, significantly reducing swirl marks and bringing the white paintwork to life with a sharp, glossy finish in the summer sun.

This is one of the best cared-for vehicles we’ve seen. The owner clearly takes great pride in maintaining it, although we were a little concerned when washing-up liquid and a chamois leather were mentioned.
We treated the car to our newly enhanced Revive treatment, which now includes a 12‑month ceramic hard coat. In true English summer fashion, the heavens opened twice during the polishing stage, which caused a slight delay. Even so, we finished the work in a single day, and the customer was absolutely delighted with the results—especially impressed with how clean the wheel barrels were.
Before handing the car back, we shared a few simple tips and recommendations to help keep it looking its best, which are much kinder to the paintwork and help maintain the ceramic protection for longer.

Black cars always look their best after a proper detail, with paint that comes up deep, vibrant and impossible to miss.
This car came in for our Revive treatment on a hot 31° August day. We worked panel by panel, starting in the shade and cooling the hotter areas with a damp towel before polishing. On the boot area we also noticed some circular markings on the surface, which were particularly visible in direct sunlight. Once refined, the paint looked clean, smooth and consistent again.
By evening the car had cooled and was ready for its hard coat, leaving the black paintwork rich, glossy and protected. A true head turner.

This BMW X3 came to our Salisbury detailing base for single stage paint correction under our Revive service.
Summer 2025 is over. After a run of black cars, this one also read as black at first glance, but it is actually a deep blue. Years of dullness, wash marring, scrapes and light scratches had made the paint look flat. Our Revive treatment corrected the haze, reduced the appearance of those marks and brought the colour and gloss back across eleven year old paintwork.
Why we do it. If you are selling privately, tired paint shows every defect and pulls attention away from the car itself. A properly polished and protected finish draws the eye to the lines and the colour instead of the flaws. Presentation improves, buyer confidence goes up and perceived value follows.

I am not sure Jaguar have ever made a car that is not pretty, and this XF is no exception. A genuinely stunning shape, but on arrival at our Salisbury base for the Revive service, the paintwork was looking flat and lifeless. Both front doors were heavily contaminated with black marks that would not shift with safe wash chemicals alone. We always try to avoid claying where possible, but in this case there was no alternative. The correct products and careful technique were needed to remove the contamination safely without compromising the clear coat.
Once the paint was fully cleansed, we set about polishing it back to its vibrant, glossy best. The transformation was immediate. Depth, clarity and richness restored, then locked in with our 12 month hard coat for durable protection and easier maintenance going forward.
All external glass was treated using Auto Finesse’s new ceramic glass cleaner to improve water beading and visibility in cold, wet winter conditions as part of the Winter Pack. Wheel protection has been deliberately delayed, as the customer is having the wheels refinished in black to really offset the car. When it returns for its maintenance clean, the freshly finished wheels will be protected properly then.
A car that already looked good, now finished as it should be.
